                            雅思大作文题目解析            

大作文主要围绕的是广告、儿童这两大热点话题,要求考生进行双边讨论:

There are many advertisements directed at children, such as snacks, toys and other goods. Parents argue that children are under pressure. Advertisers claim that the advertisements provide useful information. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.


题目大意:有很多广告直接面向未成年人,如:零食、玩具及其他商品。父母认为这样会对孩子造成影响,而广告商则认为广告提供了很多有用的信息。讨论双方观点并给出自己的看法。


这道题目是较常见的双边讨论题,而且双方的身份都已明确:家长和广告商们,在开头段简述问题的起因后,青年君建议同学们将主体段分为两段,分别简述家长们认为广告给孩子带来负面影响的理由,和广告商们认为广告提供大量实用信息的理由。


相信大多数考生都会认为家长们的立场是正确的,认为广告的确会对孩子们带来负面影响。那么我们对广告的看法就要偏向负面,可以列出以下论点:广告目的大多以商业利润为主,为了吸引人的目光大多会带有感官诱惑,孩子们身心尚未健全,很难抵挡广告诱惑,进而央告父母购买商品……同时,我们要对广告提供有效信息的作用进行缩小,贬低:虽然有些广告的确会为孩子和他们的家长提供有用的信息,但是为了宣传效果,广告经常会夸大相应的产品,以此来获得更好的经济利益,孩子们很可能因为广告而获得质量较次而价格高昂的商品……


假如有考生选择了广告商们的立场,那么他们就应该尽量说明广告的积极作用:未成年人认识有限,广告是比较容易传播,能让未成年人获得关于一些商品的有效手段,有很多物美价廉的商品都是通过广告来让公众所知的…….


青年君建议各位考生不要一棍子把广告打死,认为其对未成年人只有负面作用,使用一些欲抑先扬的方法,先承认广告的作用,然后再表明广告的这些积极作用也会带来很多负面影响即可,毕竟在双向讨论当中,表示转折的连接词一直都是那么火,在各种however, nevertheless之后,反驳的观点会显得更加突出。

Bombarded with diverse advertisements on television, in newspapers or on the running public transport in today’s frequency, especially those aiming at children directly, the parents can easily claim that the advertisements cause pressure for their children, while the advertisers think that the information contented in advertisements are generally useful.


People may point out that advertisements appear too frequently in daily life, so that they impose too much pressure on children and their parents. Generally, advertisements have deep insight into children’s psychology and behaviors which benefits their advertising to make the products more popular. The toy, snack or any other goods can be easily sealed into the young minds by advertising. As a result, the innocent children can be attracted to ask their parents to buy whatever is advertised, without considering its price and function.


However, advertisers themselves can hardly agree with these arguments, claiming that they advertise only the useful information. Indeed, in some cases, parents can gain some helpful information on the commercial introduction about the goods to choose the products with right quality, especially after comparison with patience. Nevertheless, in some others, an amount of advertisements exaggerate products’ quality, in the meaning time conceal the demerits of goods, that means the consumers can be misled by while they are choosing goods. That’s why advertisement can be harmful for the children as well as their parents.


In conclusion, advertisements can offer some useful information while they have more possibility of negative impact on the children and their guardians. As the result, I totally agree that advertising commercially towards children should be strictly examined and controlled by the authorities. In the meantime, parents should be more regardful while choosing the goods from advertisements.
